So like many people I was inspired to make a bag after seeing the Weekender Bags on Craftster as well as all the Lululemon bags walking around Ottawa.  I debated buying the Weekender Bag Pattern but decided that I didn't really like the shape of it, and I didn't really want to order it on-line, so I made my own pattern.  I based the shape and dimensions roughly from the Puma 'Phantom Grip' Bag.  I drew up a pattern with my trusty rolling ruler (and the help of some french curves, and then spent a week or more cursing my way through this thing.

The outside fabric is quilting cotton, interfaced with sturdy fusible interfacing.  It is lined with Cotton and the front, back, and bottom are reinforced with super sturdy interfacing (it's like an 1/8 of an inch thick or so).  There's a zippered pocket on the inside.  I made the piping with a continuous bias strip and some cord (it wasn't very good cord, but Ottawa sucks for buying fabric).

So without further ado here are the photos.

The front:

The Strap (these were horrible to sew as there were so many layers, I broke a few needles, the the straps alone took more than 2 hours to do)

The Side (someone found the cookies hiding in the bottom of the bag)

So that's it.  I can add info, and some in process pics if people are interested.  If I ever forget how difficult this was to make I will make one for my sister (and if that's the case I can try and post a full tutorial, but I shouldn't promise at this point).

Suggestions, Comments, Criticisms and Sarcastic remarks are welcome.

Thanks for the compliments guys.  It's great to hear that others like it as it took so long to make (and I've only used it for plane travel so far so not too many people i know have seen it).

Good luck teaching your husband to sew, I taught mine to knit and crochet, but I'm not sure teaching him to sew would work as well Cheesy
