I know a few people here save seeds, how about a seed swap?  To make it crafty we could decorate the envelopes or something...

Sounds great.  Although, It's my first year farming/gardening, so I've yet to collect seeds.  =/

What a neat idea! But I also don't have any seeds yet. I am planning to buy some to start a bee garden, and a seed garden (for the birds). I have a couple of questions...

Can I swap purchased seeds (I'm sure I don't need a whole package of whatever I buy...I have a small area to work in)?

How many seeds and types might it be?

Will seeds be zone specific?

Do we need to be careful about possible invasive species?

Good call.  I've got a ton of seeds.  They're all from reputable seed co.'s.  No GMOs or weird 'hybrid' experimentals.

I haven't ordered any seeds, yet. But my goal this year is to start a garden, and start all of my plants myself. So, I'm perusing the Burpee catalog with sticky notes at my side Wink

I have purple hyacinth and milkweed seeds... that's all I have that are collected from my yard.  I'm sure it could easily be tied in to a swap...
I'd looooOoooove some bee balm seeds...  I can't seem to find them locally at any of the seed spots....

I think it would be fine to swap purchased seeds, so long as they weren't hybrids!!  Its a good way to get some newbies started and add to the collection of others.  We would need to get it rolling though, cause those seeds need to be started before long!  I've never organized, but I'd be willing to try!!

I've already started most of my seeds for this season..... My last frost date is Apr 15th.... although I usually plant a week or two after that to be on the safe side.. We've had a couple late near freezes that seem to always happen after you set out those green peppers!

That's why I think we need to get this ball rolling!  I'll get everything set up when I get home from work tomorrow!
