Made this for a new niece - only used 9 out of the 10 sections, but I like the size. The border is slightly different from the pattern as well. I used Dale of Norway Baby Ull and it is so soft and lovely. I really love how colorful and crazy this blanket is, and since my sister didn't want to find out the sex of the baby I had to do something neutral.

This is beautiful! Was it difficult to make everything the perfect size? Also, would you mind directing me to the pattern (in case I ever have a spare 1000 hours or so) Smiley

Thanks!  Wink

That is fabulous! I love the colors. It bugs me how baby yarn almost always comes in only pastels - I'm impressed that you found such great bold colors in baby yarn!

Thanks everybody! I totally fell in love with this pattern, it is from Interweave Crochet Spring 2006. No it didn't take me quite that long, I had to wait for the right baby to come along! The magazine is hard to come by, but they offer the pattern for sale.

http://shop.interweave.com/store/Babette-Blanket-P235C59.aspx

I know it's a bit pricey for a single pattern, sorry!

I did find that it went faster once I switched from just trying to make all the squares to making all the squares for each section and building it as I went. It provided nice little moments of triumph along the way to keep me going - just making square after square feels like less progress to me.

I totally loved the yarn, and it comes in a TON of colors - I had a great time picking!

I've never seen a blanket like that - it's beautiful!  The bold colours are fabulous - I got tired of pastel baby stuff when I had my babies.

Ah! Congrats on actually finishing it!  I've been about 1/3 of the way through this pattern for a year or so (granted, I haven't really worked on it for about 8 months...)... I picked different colours, too, as the original is a little too pink for me (and the nephew it was intended for.  Well, for his father anyway).
It's encouraging to see it done.. Hmm, maybe i'll have to dig it out again.

That is just beautiful and happy. It is destined to be an heirloom.

I saw the pattern said "easy." Is it really easy? Something this gorgeous could make me learn to crochet.

WOW, you did such an amazing job! I love it. I love  the randomness of the pattern. I also LOVE that it is not the typical pastel baby blanket, although I do like them ok, just like something different Smiley and it looks so soft! Thanks for the link to the pattern also, I would love to get it, um, but I need to really learn to crochet better than basic chain stitch. anyways, great job!

That is so beautiful!  And, since it isn't terribly babyish, hopefully she can find some way to keep using its beauty as she grows up --- unless her mom recycles it for future kidlings.

It is truly gorgeous.  Lovely, lovely, lovely.
