So, I absolutely love the movie My Neighbour Totoro, and I love playing with Perler beads (Hama beads here in the UK!) I just had to do something with the two together!  Grin

He's 20 inches high and 12 inches wide, and has pride of place at the centre of my empty wall! I know he's not very evenly melted, and his whiskers look awful because they were a nightmare to get to stay on. The first ones broke off and I had to melt those on after the rest was completed, which is why they look over-melted and wonky!

haha thats great!
any of those characters are brilliant.

this might be a bit of a noob question... but when you say melt.. how do you do it? like just arrange the beads then shove them in the oven?

You arrange the beads on a pegboard, put paper on top of them and then go over them with an iron, which melts the top half of the beads so they stay together. Then you remove the design from the pegboard and voila!

He's great! I would have never noticed the whiskers if you hadn't pointed them out. I love Totoro, you should make one of the small white ones with the leaf-umbrella to go next to him... and a catbus... and... Smiley yes, I love Totoro Grin

Whoa, how big of a pegboard do you have? LOL Very cute. Now I need to check the amounts of white/grey/black colored beads I have left... Smiley

Maybe I'm late, but better late than never ^^

I use clear beads to fix the problem with the 1-bead line out of the design
