I got suckered into buying the book because I really liked this pattern. I dislike the patterns in the book, not my style, but it was worth it for THIS!
http://knittersofdoom.blogspirit.com/images/medium_helena_pink.2.jpg
And then I thought, wow! These are so quick and easy to make, I'll do some more! So I made this, too!

The pattern works well with other yarn.. The pink one I did in the manos del uruguay in rose. The purple was mystery worsted weight I got from me momma. I like the bobbles on the bottom, it was my first time with bobbles (blush Wink)
The pink one I followed directly, making one for increases, but the purple one I tweaked and went for a more subtle increase, using the bar increase.. I like the results much better!
The pattern is from Jil Eaton's "AFTER DARK; uncommon knits for night time"
I am going to make a slew of these to give out to all the little gal's I know, because they are so cute!
Oh yeah, if you need or want to see it in better detail, there's more pics on my blog and you can double click to enlarge,, Cheesy

First off, your daughter is so darling.  She's a cutie!

Great job on the ponchos.  They look great on her.  For some reason, I find little girls in ponchos so so adorable.

On me, on the otherhand. . .I look like a walking circus tent.  Tongue

Thank you all! She's my pride and joy! (my daughter, not the poncho!)
It's a poncho, I don't know why they call it a cape. I brought my daughter to my mommy and me playgroup thingy and I actually have orders to make 3 of them! I have to say that I actually enjoy knitting it, so much so that I am also going to make a few more for my friend Sheila's 2 gals and one for Kathryn's daughter as a b-day gift.
I'm nuts for ponchos, probably because I really dig 70's style clothing.
