Made purely for myself, which is a change. I saw this image of "grizzly bear" in an old 1970's Teddy annual, and fell in love. I've always like those wooden pendants with the vintage pics and sayings in them, but none of the sayings really were me.  Now this one however...is very much me! (I just got diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable personality Disorder, so thought this would be kinda funny to wear!)

Technical details- made with wood, I glued gingham fabric for the background, then the image and the sayoing. As I don't have resin (but I did find some at my craft store, but it was £25!, so I need to save up) I covered the image with deco-gel, by fimo, and cooked it for 30 mins. Because the finish isn't shiny, i glossed it with varnish, waited to it to dry, and then glued a homemade head pin into a small hole I made at the top. Finish with a cute flower sequin, and a chain, and ta da!

I love when people can laugh at themselves.  Cheesy
Got to admit I'm emotionally unstable at times too.

Too cute! I love making fun of myself too! I'm bipolar and I think it would be fun to make a necklace poking fun, I just need one very happy and one very sad polar bear and I'm set Grin. I could pour a whole lot of different colored pills into resin behind them (kinda cool idea except I don't have insurance and pay $700 for my meds!). Hmm tics tacs w/ writing to look like pills instead? You've definitely inspired me, sorry to take up your post.

i am so right there with you...but i refuse to medicate...  a friend of mine runs a bipolar support group on myspace n she sells stuff for the group on cafepress...for a while she had a sparklie oval sticker(like they sell at spencer's) that read 'bipolar chicks are hot'...i still need to get me one of those.

and cupcake, great idea!  i know the pieces you're referring to, and she does a great job.  so did you!  wear your diagnosis proudly, grrlie!  rock it!  (yeah, maybe i'm a bit manic right now, lol)

LOL I love it!  I am fully in support of those who can laugh at life, and view mental illness as simply another difference that makes this world a wonderful place (aren't most artists a lil "off" anyways?).

I was diagnosed with agoraphobia/anxiety disorder and put on effexor - so I had some polymer clay pill capsules custom made by an etsy artist that look EXACTLY like the real thing - I used 2 to make a pair of earrings, and saving the others to make a "crazy" charm bracelet.

The week after the polymer pills arrived, I was told to wean off the effexor (harsh HARSH withdrawl!), and will be starting Wellbutrin - so now I have to make myself some little lavender tablets for the bracelet! LOL
