So we have this floor lamp from Wal*Mart and it works fine but the lamp shades were just cheap plastic and blah.  They are like this see through white and icky.  So i decoupaged them with some awesome glittery-swirly tissue paper and here they are!  One with the light on and one with it off.

Off...

and On...

A friend said it looks like it's marbled which is pretty darn cool

oooo I love them!
I think I would be so worried that it would smell if I left them on too long... has that been a problem?
or does the decoupage take care of that?

No smell at all.  We actually have those energy saver bulbs and it makes it so it doesnt get too hot and we dont have to worry about fires or anything.  Its wonderful

That looks really pretty and elegant!  Dumb question . . . did you decoupage the tissue to the inside or the outside of the plastic shades? Wink

Outside because the shades themselves are actually not completely see through

OMG I have that same lamp. The shades on them are really cheap and flimsy! Your lamp is awesome! I love it!

This is so cool.  I'm gonna try this out with our cheap WalMart lamp shade.

So I'm not the only one who's decoupaged the cheap lamps!! I also had the cheapy lamps, and couldn't stand the shades. I'd also recently (at that time) discovered decoupaging, so I decided to use some "handmade" tissue from a dollar store-- I used a natural color tissue that has leaves and stuff in it. Decoupaged on the outside of the shade also, which is no cake walk. No one has known the lamps weren't purchased that way! When I tell people that I 'made' them, there's often surprise. Is crafting fun?

Thanks for sharing!
