French Toast...Get it?

I went through a phase where I thought it was REALLY cool to knit/crochet with things that weren't traditional yarn. Some were hits some were misses. This was a hit! Curling ribbon is REALLY strong! Surprisingly so...The original prototype of this bag seems to have wandered off some where but these are all off shoots of it.

This one I made for my Aunt for use at the farmers market. Forget those plastic bags that are bad for the environment, go reuseable!

It comes with a small pocket on the one side and...

The handles are crocheted into the bag...This was a new addition to my pattern.

One of the first bags I made. I use this one as my purse and I love it! Please excuse the Beauty and the Beast sheets...Mine are in the laundry lol.

This one was made by request for my mom. We live at the beach and she wanted a larger bag that wouldn't hold sand in it. So I made this...Excuse the foot...

Well those are my bags. Comments and criticism welcome!

The bags done in single crochet take 2 spools, one of each color. But if you make them in double or triple you need 2 spools of each color. Each spool runs about $1.99 so it's really cost effective too!

they generally take a 5 or 6 hours each. good project for doing in front of the tv because its a lot of single crochet. doing it with a larger crochet hook helps too! Grin

Your bags look great!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful suggestion!

I'm always looking for inexpensive material to crochet - and I still have lots of curling ribbon :-)
I also have metallic looking curling ribbon - worth a try ;-)

I really like your purses.  Question-what happens when they get wet?  I have bad results with ribbon.  Does it hold up better than ribbon?

They're fine when they're wet. Thats why they make good beach bags. just rinse them off when you done!

How fabu!  I have boxes of curling ribbon that I could use up, what a great idea! Your bags are gorgeous, and I really love the orange and yellow one.  Cheesy  I also like the teacup sheets!  Grin
