Do your dream

My Girl friend and I did a going away swap for each other. She made me a BEAUTIFUL quilt that I will post pics of later today or tomorrow. It was wonderful so I had to do something that she would love and use as much.
I found an old sewing box that had been used and loved to death. This thing was awful. I have before pics but they got packed up and I will post again once I get them. The transformation was really something else.
I loved the lines of  the sewing box though and instantly saw how I could turn it into her style.
She loves blues and green and the two colors together she loved even more. Sooooo I redid the box with much help from hubby. Found some wonderful new hardware for it. Hubby burnished some of the hardware to match because they were so old that they don't make anything like it anymore.
Then I handpainted it just a bit. I thought the lines and the color blue along with pewter hardware needed something incredibly simple.
THEN.... I was able to fill it with a TON of sewing notions all in the same colors. Most were vintage sewing notions that I found at junk shops over the years. I did find some new things that I added in there as well and then of course I crafted the pin cushion with velvet strawberry and her needle book as well.
It is the most fun I have had making something for a friend ever. Hope yall like it too.

Much Peace,
Tero

P.S. Also made this little envelope out of a vintage hankie and then filled it with old buttons

Awesome all around!  My mom has a sewing box that opens like that and it is SOOO handy (and not sooo pretty), but yours sure is now!  That is a fantastic gift on it's own, but the love and supplies that it's filled with make it truly awe inspiring.  THIS ROCKS and I'm pushing the button to say so.

That is all kinds of gorgeous and an incredibly thoughtful gift!  My stepmum had a sewing caddy like that which I've always eyed up with envy but hers doesn't look half as pretty.  Well done.

Excellent work! Did you just happen to come across the box or was it a concerted search? I'm beginning to think I need to find a box to keep all my sewing stuff in. It keeps expanding across my room!

I'm pretty sure that box would hold about 1/10 of my craft supplies. lol. Fantastic Job.
