This pattern (or rather, my abuse of the internet coupled with printing off 5 copiesÖ  Roll Eyes) cost me my job in call-centre hell about 2 years ago, giving me the spring board to get off my butt, enroll at college and apply to university. Iím now planning to move to Glasgow in September to study Psychology and Linguistics, and thought it would be quite fitting if I actually got round to making them for the start of my time in chilly Scotland.

The first time I saw this pattern it went straight on my list of Ďstuff Iíll never have the time/patience/skill to knit but gosh I wish I couldí, so itís a real satisfaction to have them on. ;DThe pattern itself was very nice to knit; Fair Isle (or whatever you want to call it) is not nearly as hard as I thought it would be to knit, and it was a delight to watch the pattern come through in front of my eyes. The worst part of the whole thing was the cuffs in 2 colour ribbing. Urgh. Not hard, just boring but necessary, as most boring things are! This is also the first time Iíve used circular needles, and Iím really pleased with them. Down with purl stitch!*

I decided to go for red and white rather than black and white for two reasons. 1) I had a stupid amount of red yarn Iíd never used lying around, and 2) Iím not a fan of the monochrome look since my job entails me wearing black all weekend. Plus, I figured red is still relatively pirate-y!

The finished mittens. Myspazz pose 1

Day one. Managed to squeeze in enough time to cast on before I started work. Ooh, pretty colours! I looked quite tanned. That's a lie.

The first skull starts to appear. This is where I get stupidly excited and nearly crash my phone taking pictures. Geek.

Le palm.

Myspazz pose number 1.

The first mitten is completed! You can't see the clock, but I finished this at 3am after work, having stayed behind to watch some boxing match. Note to self; never attempt to knit whilst drinking beer again. Even if it's alcohol free beer. I suck.

Sorry for all the pics. I am just very, very happy.  Grin

(*Iím sorry. I didnít mean it. I love your bumpiness really)
