This is my first quilt.  It's fairly simple, great big blocks of fabrics.  It will probably be one of those quilts that bothers me so much in ten years that I have to take it all apart.  or throw it out in a fit of rage.  It is wonky and poorly quilted.  The binding is all, well, wonky.  But now I love it love it love it!

The front:

The back:

I was too impatient to pre-wash the fabrics (one of my many faults) also, I like the look of antique shrunken quilts the only problem that I didn't foresee was that the backing is half red.  I think that my whole quilt will end up being a bit purple.  Also, I used a cotton batting (also not preshrunk) to add to the antique-y,cozy, wrinkled-y look.  I will post pics when I get around to washing it.
ETA: I washed it.  It survived.  It is now perfect! YAY!

I think it's an awesome quilt!  For a first time, I think you did a great job and I bet you never ever throw it out!  Good work!

Thank you for the kind compliments.  For the back I couldn't decide wether I wanted to use red or orange so I decided to use both.

Stop being so hard on yourself!  Smiley Smiley

I have a yard of this fabulous fabric but have yet to decide what to do with it. You put the fabric to great use. I love your quilt. I'm happy to hear it survived washing.

Please do always preshrink though. Your projects will thank you for it. I like to "hem" the edges of the fabric with a crude running stitch if I put them in the washer. It keeps the raw edges from fraying all over the place.

I've heard good things about the dye attracting cloths.  You could try washing it with one of those.

I've got a handful of vintage patterns up for trade/swap (1950s/60s): Monograms, embellished bags, men's robe, lace work, spats/bags, bell bottom, mod dress.  PM if interested.

I wanted the look that one gets from non preshrunk fabrics (also, I used half inch seam allowances) and it had no problem.

It's cool! And I don't think the imperfections should ever bother you. It was your first after all.
