Our old toaster went kaput.  I love buttered toast, and after buying a well working toaster oven at a garage sale, I was faced with what to do with the toaster corpse.  This seemed like the most "eco-friendly" (aint that an overused, not always accurate term these days...) and therapeutically destructive option.

I gutted it, and used duct tape to hold the crumb catcher from opening wide and dumping my beloveds all over the ground.  If you had one that you trusted to stay closed, you could skip the duct tape.  I can't really offer a tutorial, but I can offer some advice. 

Wear gloves.  Use wire cutters to clip what you can't pull out.  Make sure noone nearby will mind you cussing up a storm from time to time.  Remember that a photo of reflective toaster WILL capture your pale twelve-year-old-boy lookin' chicken legs, and come to terms with that.

I think I have that same toaster! Proctor-Silex! I got mine at a garage sale after killing my old one, and I love it. I hope I don't wind up using it as a planter anytime soon.

Also, I do really like nasturtiums. This is an amazing coincidence, although I don't have 12yo boy legs.

I seriously thought you had shellaced a picture on there, and then planted in it, and it took a while before I realized that was just the reflection.
But it's still really sweet! I think my new apartment needs a toaster-planter....

ROFL! you are so funny! Thank you for the laugh, I needed that this a.m.. I so love this idea!!! The nasturtium flowers are going to look so pretty reflected in the toaster when they bloom. Good job. I wonder what I have around the house that I could do something similar to *plotting*
