I received 2 skeins of this gorgeousgorgeousgor geous extravagant Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted hand-dyed wool yarn (color = "Jeans") as a gift, and I really wanted to make something wearable out of it -- but something you can make out of a strictly rationed 450 yards of yarn!

So I picked the Knot So Ugly shrug. I had serious trouble getting the gauge / size right, so I restarted this at least five times. It was going quite well, finally, with an L hook in the "Small" size (though while making it, I was sure it was going to fit a doll, and not me), but then I put it on. It does totally fit, but it's just not remotely the same *shape* as in the book picture at all. Oh well! It is true that I am exceedingly short-waisted.

Here is me styling it at work, in serious need of a haircut:

I think what I'm going to do about the shaping problem is just sew down the "ties," put a great big button or two on the bottom edge, and turn it into a ballet wrap-style cardigan.
