OK you asked for it ...This is my first tutorial so ask questions if you need too
to make this bag
***First gather materials.. and print patterns on full size sheet ......the material list is on patterns
Then first thing I do is I make the pocket (the pocket on this is is a bit smaller due to I ran out of fabric but it still works, size is really up to you) by sewing on three sides and all 4 corners to make turning easy. Turn pocket and sew across the top 1/4 in from edge... set aside and sew handles.
first by pressing then sew down the long sides on both sides of handle one each one
Press all interfacing to pieces, the only one I don't use interfacing is the main fabric that us used for front and back. but you can use interfacing if you wish.
Next sew the sides of the front and back pieces. where the pockets are
and turn , sew 1/4 inch from edge and on one piece place pocket where you wish and sew three sides
Sew big pockets to contrast pieces. by sewing lining to front and back pieces, by placing wrong sides together and using a 1/4 in seam and you will have this
sew lining to top of outer pieces. along top and dont forget to snip little slit in the curve...
now sew both pieces together , right sides facing using a 3/8 seam. makes sure you are sewing outside the previous 1/4 seam, you don't want this to show through when you are done leave room at the bottom for turning
next take handles and place 2 1/4 inches from edge and sew in place.
you should have just four pieces now...
after you turn sew seam closed as close to edge as you can.
last step . sew along top edge but make sure you pull handles away from bag
and then you have the finished bag
with deep pockets
you can add a snap or sew on velcro for closeure ..just be sure to center it
