My friend's son (Filip) is turning two years old and I've been invited to his birthday party on Monday. I've been knitting this sweater on and off for the past month. It's an easy pattern and quite adorable so I wanted to share the pics and the link with everyone.

FREE PDF PATTERN: Click "Jack & Jill" from the Rowan Knits website

DOWNLOAD OPTION 2: Go to http://www.knitrowan.com/html/freepatternarchive.asp
- Select "2001" and it's listed as one of the "January 2001" patterns
- The PDF link is eight patterns down from the top of the list.

I used various techniques to add some extra detailing to the sweater and make it a tad more special for the recipient. Truth be told, I was starting to go batty from the endless rows of stockinette stitch so I needed something to break it up and keep my attention.

1.) INTARSIA: Personalized the sweater by knitting in Filip's name at the back. Alphabet chart available here

2.) DUPLICATE STITCH: Found a cute bear chart that fit perfectly on one of the front panels of the cardigan. Bear graph available here

3.) KITCHENER STITCH: My first attempt at creating a seamless join for the hood seam. Not perfect but satisfactory. I was quite pleased even though I didn't truly achieve a "seamless" look. A bit lumpy, bumpy. Just thrilled that I have a new knitting technique under my belt. Yay!

...and just because I'm giddy with accomplishment here's some more shots of the cardigan. I'm still pretty new to creating knit garments so any success story is a big deal for me. Thanks for looking! Hee hee!
