hello fellow alaskans!  glad to see a handful of us on here.  i just found out about craftster from my sister in south america, and it is SO addicting.  i have a whole list of stuff to make over the winter now!
i'd love to hear from anyone here in eagle river!  i'm currently caught up in quilting, spinning, knitting, and trying to figure out a big loom i bought...fustrating!  i also dabble at cake decorating.
stay warm and happy crafting!

Hi Baaramewe!
I normally wouldn't just ask a stranger this, but is there any possibility you'd be willing to teach me to spin?? *bats eyes pleadingly*
It is addicting isn't it! I love craftster!

Hello everyone!  Happy Turkey Day Tomorrow!

I am a fellow AK Crafter!  Living in Palmer, still working at UAA, just graduated with my BS in nursing...taking my state boards dec 14th...

LOVE the Fantastic Fiber shop in Palmer, I have yet to check out most yarn stores... like the one on King St in ANchorage, or the one in Wasilla, Ewe FIrst...due to being a university student full time for four years with two kids while the hubby was the only one pullin in the dough...

So...when I start working as a nurse... may my yarn addiction grow wings of passions beyond what JoAnns can sell me...haha.

I love all types of crafting, you name it I have done it, will plan on doing it, want to learn or can teach ya! haha

Beadwork, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc.

Do people up here get together for stitch n bitches or other crafty get togethers?

Well.. I know there are a couple strong bead societies. I'm not in any of them, but I've been to a couple meetings. I'm not sure about stitch-n-bitches.
I like the yarn store on King St (everytime we go to costco, I sigh and hint how much I'd like to stop there) but my major splurge money winds up with Black Elk!!
I'd be happy to make a new crafty friend. Smiley Wanna get together sometime?

Oh I could so splurge in black elk... there are some things I need to make that I can get the stuff for there... like a medicine shield and one day a drum.  But beading...man... I haven't done it in so long and want to get back into it.  Money right now is tight while I study for the boards and hubby goes through his seasonal lull (construction).

For sure we should get together sometime.

Yeah, there are several. The only one I can remember right now is the TKGA local chapter, Knitters of the North. I'm away at grad school, so I'm not sure where they're currently having their stitch 'n bitches, but I don't think you have to be a member to join in.

Well since I see this is still fairly active.. I shall post! Living in Palmer [6 years now] and loving it! Im VERY new to crafting of any sort [since nobody in my family is crafty and I finally convinced my parents that I WOULD in fact use a sewing machine.. which they got for me early for my 8th grade graduation]. But I have REALLY wanted to learn how to crochet/knit. Or.. anything. Any good stores around here that I can convince my parents to take me to? I know of the Completed Quilt and Just Sew in Palmer [and ofcourse Walmart and JoAnns]. But Im sure there has got to be more.. right?
