Oh! Wedding Bouquet is so pretty. I know a bride who would just adore it. *Her wedding colors are going to purple, chocolate and a burnt orange.*

OOO.. that sounds just RICH!!    that's almost like the chocolate rasberry yarn..  I'm going knit that up into a fun scarf to wear to my wedding shower.

The wedding bouquet yarn is destined for a purple shawl I've envisioned.. with different stripes of purple yarns I've spun from my fave fiber ladies.. I have purple roving coming from Lynn (Yarn Wench) I have this purple loop yarn, along with some purple babycakes I plan to spin for the shawl.. some purple mohair locks from HollyEQQ for a curly yarn and a purple batt from Renae (terrabellaspun) I also may use the purple haze yarn.. that's hemp and wool mix with purple sari silk.  I want to wear a black cute dress to my rehersal dinner, and have this shawl with me Smiley

Wow!  What a great showing and its still early.  I kept it natural this week.  My first one was hard to get a good pic of, it is really much more lively in person.  On Sat I came across some black thread on clearance at Walmart so of coarse I bought it all. Then on Sun I was offered an AMAZING deal on some alpaca(80) wool(20) batts.  It was meant to be.

Alpaca/wool Blend wrapped & plied w/black thread
714 yrds (used over 2000 yrds of thread)

Alpaca, 400ish yrds

Have a great week!

Just curious.. how much does hand spun yarn cost?

If you mean how much does the fiber cost, it can vary depending on what the fiber is, and what state it is in (ie hand dyed silk is gonna cost more per lb than fleece taken straight from a sheep) The spinning part is free (after you paid for your wheel or spindle)

Unless you are asking how much it is to buy handspun yarn.. and then that also differs with the fiber.. how much the spinner paid for the fiber.. how much time and effort it took to spin it.. etc...    You can do a search on etsy for "handspun yarn" and you'll get a nice idea of the vary of prices..

Happy Friday all,

I haven't posted in awhile. I ha ve way to many hobbies that take up my time, plus I went on vacation. While on vacation, I went to Birkeland Bros (in Vancouver). If you've never been, you have to go! They have a drum carder with about four or five drums that are as tall as me. So cool. I went alittle crazy and bought a ton of fiber(seacell, hemp, batts, silk, viscouse, firestar, etc.) I don't even know where to start! I've also been working on making tons of batts so I'm set for awhile.

Batts - 100% Targhee dyed by me

100% corridale - 110 yards - I bought at birkeland bros. It's slightly bulky, so soft, and the colours are gorgous!

Spring has sprung - 375 yards - 100% mohair dyed by me. This is the most yardage I have gotten out of yarn! I just don't know what to make with it?

Isamax - I love the earthy colour of your second one.

Ooh, the yarns are lovely so far!  I have no fiber to share this week, but maybe by the end of the day I'll be able to share my new wheel.  I've been working on finishing her ALL week. Cheesy

I have one yarn to share this week.
"Think Srping" from Spunky Eclectic's FOTM. It's South African Fine which felt rather rough in roving form but made a very nice soft lofty yarn.

Thick and thin Bulky weight 4oz 280 yards

I knit the One Skein Wonder Baby Sweater out of it, (currently blocking pics coming soon) I figured only a baby girl could get away with these colors.

Oh and I knit a hat out of the yarn from last week.

The base yarn is Lambs Pride Bulky and the stripe is my own "Shocking" yarn from last fiber friday!

Wow this thread gets better every week! I really love seeing what you all knit from handspun too. I need to get better about planning projects and then deciding what to spin.

I finished a few skeins this week:

about 300 yards of really soft alpaca....I must get more alpaca!

"Autumn Leaves" Yellow superwash roving that was overdyed...2 ply, about 200 yds

A self striping yarn.....goes from brown to a teal and brown heathered mix to teal and repeats.

"Deep in the Forest" A bulky mix of mohair, merino and other wool, with felt leaves and ladybug buttons.

I just dyed up a bunch of rovings to play with too:

I've been carding batts up too, so my house is really covered in fiber at the moment!

Gorgeous yarns already, I can't even decide on a favourite.... Cheesy

This week I was quite busy, but a lot of yarns are still waiting to have their twist set.
I concentrated a bit more on art yarns and vegan/plant based alternatives to wool and silk yarns.

Lady in Red:

all this became:

Creamy cotton:

Campari Orange, Merino with Mohair locks:

Some gorgeous soy silk and fluffy ocean themed art yarn should be ready by next Friday. Smiley

I've been spinning a lot, but not taking pictures because most of my yarns are being saved up for craft shows. Here's what I did take pictures of this week:
