So, I started building these garden beds a few years ago from scrap lumber.  Last year I built one from new lumber and this year I built another one.  I have six total and I'm starting my garden.

This one is four beds lined up in a row.

My tomatoes.

This is the two new beds.

My garlic and peppers.

I have also planted brussels sprouts, lemon cucumbers, and pole beans.  I will soon have winter squash, lettuce, carrots and radishes.

I like it that I don't have to bend over so much to weed and plant.

Love, love, love! And envy!
I got my compost bin built last year, so far this year, nothing. We're renting while looking for a house, and it's just too much trouble to leave it in a year... O-yeah, lots of envy. Great job!

Do you find your veggies grow faster in the boxes? We loose our sunlight pretty early on and I was wondering if it would help to raise the soil to make it warmer sooner.

I don't know if the veggies grow faster, but we definitely get a longer growing season.  The beds are warmer early on and stay warmer, later in the season.

We also do our own composting.  I have one of those composters that you crank around, and it seems to work faster than the bin composters.

Hey Balkandina, how are you?  The garden is growing by leaps and bounds.  We now have tomatoes, sweet peppers, jalapenos, pole beans, peas, radishes, carrots, squash, onions, and garlic.

The garlic is almost ready for harvesting, and I just harvested the first of my strawberries.

We have one problem this year.  We are share cropping with the birds.  They have decided they like the strawberries, and they ate all the seeds for our brussels sprouts.

How are you doing with your garden?  Your yard always looks so artistic,  I can't wait to see pics for this year.

The camera appears to be lost at the moment, but I'll try to post pics later this week. My corn is just poking up. Everything is so slow here at this time of year and then it just blooms out in mid July!!  I do have a few strawberries ripening and I'm super happy that one of the column apple tree has apples-it's never fruited before!! What types of beans did you plant?

Don't remember what type of beans.  They are seeds that we harvested from last year.  The green beans come out long and thin.

Our apple trees are loaded this year.  We went out yesterday and picked off about one third of them, so the rest will get big.  Our granny smith is starting to fruit as well as our dwarf cherry trees.  We picked the fruit off last year, but this year we are going to let them fruit out.

We planted twelve crabapple trees, in the hope that the birds will eat them and leave the rest alone.  We also planted sunflowers for the first time.

I have never tried to grow corn.

I can't wait to see your new pics.
