I have several pieces of jewelry/etc. that were left in a warm car too long and are now all tarnished!  They're mostly copper, with a little brass/nickel silver thrown in.  I know I could just lightly sand-off the tarnish of some of the pieces/dunk them in soda, but I want to make sure that they stay nice and shiny when I'm done.

Does anyone know of a good sealant/protectent to keep copper items from tarnishing?

either a metal laquer, a sealing wax, or the oil off of your skin all seem to work OK.

Copper is much easier to clean than that (though if it is plated not solid be careful) you can use a light acid such as vinegar or lemon juice - rub it over and wash it off.
