Hi, Im not sure where to post this but I shall try here.

I subscibe to a lot of crafty blogs which link to website and am thinking of doing something similar to link to my jewellery website to possily help increase sales. Has anyone done this?

Also does anyone know any good sites I can use, they need to be free. Im in the UK if that makes a difference?

There are some good ideas in the Crafty Business Advice forum. You can get a critique of your website, product, marketing strategies, etc. Sometimes it takes a few days to get a reply but it is usually helpful.

I am in the process of changing my own website to a blog format to see if that improves my sales - the people I sell to often come back, and it seems important to have a personalized page that allows a relationship of sorts to develop. That was the feedback I was getting from my mailing list subscribers!

I used WordPress software (free download) for my blog, hosted on my own webspace, but they have free hosting as well (www.wordpress.org). Some blogging sites may have restrictions on business/sales use, so check terms of service carefully.

I blog as regularly as I can, and I think it helps, though I do have only a small following of folks who read regularly.

I heard somewhere that blogs get indexed by search engines more often tha regular sites because blogs tend to be updated more often. Not sure if that is true, but it can't hurt to have more presence on the web, IMHO.
