im working on my major project atm to a theme of recycling and the damage desposable products are doing to the earth. i have been collecting anything and everything that would normally become landfill to use as my materials.

i cut up two cola bottles into a fine string and the proceded to crochet them into a tree...

i love the look of the plastic crochet

How on earth did you cut them that thin? That's amazing.

This is really incredible.  My school (the university of vermont) had eco-art all over campus during Earth week... several trees were hung with plastic bottles that had been collected from just trash cans (not recycling bins), and the display was really powerful and overwhelming.  Someone also crocheted sweaters/cozies for several trees out of bright yellow plastic bags.

Hey Fiber People: I am very interested in personal swaps for painted/dyed roving or top. I can swap supplies or crafted items. Let's talk!

maybe it's just me but I in addition to the tree, I see it as some kind of undersea coral or anemone or something. I would totally put that in a fish tank!
