I got a new sewing machine(thanks e-bay) and I've been gung-ho on sewing projects this week! This is a quilt I made for my sis's new baby. I used simplicity charm pack and the woven pack, then I added the chenille. The hardest part was laying out the squares.

fyi..I had been having problems with my machine tension and the thread making nests under the quilt..I bit the bullet and decided it was time to upgrade from my brother wal-mart machine(great "sewing" machine, not so great "quilting" machine)..I got a Janome..WOW what a difference! If your getting frustrated with quilting, keep in mind it might be your machine or the foot your using. I added the quilting kit with my machine that came with a stippling foot and walking foot which has made a huge difference too!

This is beautiful.  The chenille is a cool idea - I'm sure the baby will love the feel of it.

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

Adorable!  You have 64 squares there... what is the size of each square?

Wait, duh, they were charm pack squares.  Then they must've been 5 inch squares, which makes them 4.5 inches when sewn together.  The whole quilt must be 36 inches square?

It actually measures 34"...I wanted thought it was going to be 36". I actually pieced the top before I got my new sewing machine and started quilting it after I finished the baby bricks quilt so I didn't even think to double check the measurements before I went to get binding fabric, and I was excited to try stippling and didn't think to measure it then either! I probably should have put a border on it. Oh well Sad

34 inches, 36 inches -- pretty close!

A border would've been nice, but this size makes a good kid blanket.
