striped nalgene cozy

What a fantastic idea!   You inspired me to make a cozy for my own nalgene; I used light blue yarn and played with different stitches for some variety.  I also added a ring of elastic under the top round to keep the cozy, nice and, well, cozy around the top of the bottle.  Anyway, thanks for the great idea!

damn me for losing my nalgene bottle almost the first day i had it and damn me for getting the cheap, weirdly shaped walmart fakey! it will be really hard to make a cozy and there will have to be decreases and increases, but now i'm going to try.

I have made a cozy for a glass jar, because I read somewhere that the plastic they use in Nalgene bottles was not meant for people to drink out of.
Also, glass jars can hold hot things, hence the need for a cozy.

My Nalgene is carried geologist style, with a carabiner thru the loop; usually attached to my pants.
This may be a tad more practical, especailly for hikes. It gets a little uncomfortable with a HEAVY plastic tail smacking you in the butt all the time.
I think I've just been inspired to make a knit version....

Same with mine, but I attach it to the bottom part of my backpack strap.  It gets annoying having this large plastic bottle whacking you in the side every step.  This is the perfect solution!

I've been going crazy over the fact that I'm constantly dehydrated and I can't fit my bottle in my backpack. Inspiration, yeah!

OK, so I finally got around to taking a pic of the one I made...



huge I know, but at least you can see the stitch detailing well   and yes, I switched stitch pattern midway up, and have considered making another one but not sure how i want it to look overall, so I haven't.

personally, I like the bottom half best!  Neat use of variegated cotton!
