my take on cozying things that really don't need it:

really, it was all about using up the crochet cotton i love and always buy but never use.  this is a great place for it! (also it makes up for the fact that i dont have a sporty backpack to attach my water bottle on to. i've given up trying to look like i camp, rugged boys be damned)

Exactly, same here. So.....morgaroo, that comment about things not needing cozies, I dont agree with it My nalgene deffly needs a cute little cozy now! My nalgene is jealous of your nalgene.....

Oh man! If you had gone to my college you could'a sold tons and tons of those!!!! (Env. Sci. dept)
people always hold em by that plastic loop....and you can always tell who has had theirs longer b/c that loop always breaks from heavy use.
this would be awesome for camping/hiking    ~M
P.S....I know what ya mean about the cotton that ya never use....Ive been trying to use up mine for like 2 years now.

Very nice!  I once crocheted a hemp cozy for an inhaler, but it wasn't so pretty as this one. I really like the strap on yours.   Don't want it keeping the rugged boys away though!  I bet they like diy girls.

OOOHH! Thats awsome!! I never even thought of that, and I agree with Laamissa, you would have been rich if you sold these at my university, Nalgene bottles are like the defining factor for Biology and Environmental Science students!
Could you please post a bit of a tut on how you made it, im still a beginner and would love to try that if you would give me some hints

My Nalgene is carried geologist style, with a carabiner thru the loop; usually attached to my pants.
This may be a tad more practical, especailly for hikes. It gets a little uncomfortable with a HEAVY plastic tail smacking you in the butt all the time.
I think I've just been inspired to make a knit version....

Yeah, it's not so comfortable, and not very ideal for everyday use in my case, as it pulls my pants down
