My friends Ken, Sarah, and their daughter Jennifer, opened a local comic book and used book store called Arkham Comics.  (It rocks!)  I don't know if posting the link to their store's MySpace page is allowed here or not (MODS: Decision on that, please?), but I'll add it in a later message if it is because I'd like you to see the picture page that I drew this picture from.

They have jokingly turned their store into Cthulu for President (Why Choose a Lesser Evil?) Campaign Headquarters 2008.

A night of insomnia provoked me into tweeking and altering the whole yarn octopus concept.  My son helped (he was thrilled), and we made a Cthulu for Sarah.  She was ecstatic with it, and she displays it on top of the computer monitor at the desk.  One of her loyal customers (a longtime friend) dubbed our specialized yarn octupus gift "Kitschy Cthulu", and the name stuck.  Jennifer made the body bits out of Sculptee so Kitschy Cthulu could be having a snack.

Sarah took this picture and posted it on the Cthulu for President page of the store's website.  Unfortunately, you can't see him in complete tentacled evilness, but you'll get the idea.

Behold Kitschy Cthulu of Arkham Comics:

That's fantastic! The only way he could get any better is if you put some Shrinky Dink wings on the back of him - preferably cute ones, for irony's sake. Roll Eyes

One of these days I'm going to have to work up the nerve to read some of the Cthulhu stories (I'm kind of a weenie when it comes to scary stories). For now, I'll just have to be satisfied playing Call of Cthulhu later this month. Yes, I am a geek.

But we have flamethrowers. And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them."
