I made this for the Crafty Detective 4 swap, and it's the first thing I've made for a swap that I not just liked, but kind of regretted having to give away.  I kept having to stop myself trying to put stuff in it and take it places before I sent it away.  (I guess this means I need to make another one for me, huh?  Although it's pretty closely modeled after an army surplus one I already have in plain black.)

Magnetic snap for the back pocket:

The side pockets have 3 adjustable buttons so you can make them larger or smaller depending on what you put in them:

The keeper and buckle on the strap were rescued from the oblivion of my father's basement; I think the buckle was once part of a US army parachute case:

The adjustable strap at the front was made from ribbon that I folded to fit the buckle and sewed down:

Three front pockets under the flap:

And an interior zippered pouch:

With turtles!

(and then I made a couple of matching zippered pouches from this excellent tutorial)

Beautiful job! I love the turtles, I know if I owned this purse seeing them peeking out of the pocket would simply make my day!

You did a great job!  You definitely need to make one for yourself, now.

OMG!  I love this!  I would probably have bailed on the swap if I were you!  (Not really, I'm too conscientious for that, but you know what I mean!)  I want one of those - great combo of cord, cool prints and that chocolate brown - very yummy.  Great job!

I see exactly why you wouldn't want to give this away, it's stunning work!! everything goes perfect together, from the bubble lining, to the turtles to the main fabric. it's just perfect
