So, here's the deal:

I'm back at home for the summer and my job doesn't start until June 7th. My boyfriend, who is pretty much the only friend I have out here, is going to be working a ton, so I'm going to be pretty much all alone until I start my job and have a chance to meet people to hang out with. However, that's really not too big of a problem...I mean, it sucks, but I'm at peace with it.

Anyway, I was telling my boyfriend how bored I was at home and how lonely I am now that I've left school for the summer, and the next thing I know, he's looking at his online bank account statement. When I asked him why he was looking at it, he said "I'm completely willing to go spend a hundred dollars on a bunch of yarn for you to make stuff with if it will give you something to do so you're not so bored all day."

Shocked Shocked Shocked

He was serious, too.

So...while I don't think I'll be spending a hundred dollars on yarn, he's insistent about me taking the offer (and he's definitely not broke, so I don't feel horribly bad about it, just very, very grateful), so I guess I'll be taking a trip to my LYS and picking up some yarn. My only question is...what do I make?

I was thinking of making the color bar afghan from S&BHH since I love it, and maybe working off-and-on on a secret afghan for the boyfriend with an anime motif (the One Piece pirate skull because he loves One Piece), but other than that, I'm stuck for ideas. I already have a crocheted bag and I have plans for a hat...but what else? Gloves? Scarf? Sandals?

If anyone can give me some ideas, some pattern links, and/or some recommendations for yarn, that would be awesome and I'd be in your debt.

By the way, I hope I don't come across as a golddigger or anything. I didn't ask for him to spend money to fix my problems, and I usually buy my own craft supplies anyway. I don't have a job right now, but I will have one starting very soon, and I plan on giving him something back with everything he buys me anyway. I really do love him for everything he is (it's our two year anni today, ironically) and not for all the money he has. Smiley

If I had a bunch of time AND a bunch of great yarn... I think I'd try to work up one of these things:

1. Ripple afghan in the "soft waves" pattern (see http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/posie_gets_cozy/2007/02/ripple_finale.html)

2. Caron Simply Soft Baroque Tunic (see http://www.caron.com/projects/shadows/sss2_baroque_tunic.html) or the Renaissance one

3. Asphyxiation choker (see http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/lugh06/asphyxiation.htm)

4. A magnetic Katamari Damacy Cheesy (see http://amysbabies.wordpress.com/magnetic-katamari-pattern/)

Your boyfriend sounds like a sweetheart Smiley  Good luck finding something to work on that really inspires you!

Do you like garmets? Maybe a cute sweater, shrug or bag to wear when you start work! Have fun!

Perhaps you should invest in an amigurumi book too.  But go to like amazon and read about the book first.  because I recently got a amigurumi book.  I decided I make every item in the book.  And you know what?  The book came & I dont really like it.  I like 1 pattern in the whole book.  So now Im on a hunt for another amigurumi book.

-I give up on making TOL pendants.  If anyone would like to have my stone chips, wire and ect.  I would gladly trade it all for some knitting/crochet stuff.

-Currently crafting.....A Weasley blanket.  I'd love some squares made from fellow Craftsters.

Thanks for the offer; I got Creepy Cute Crochet for my anniversary and I've been working on some stuff in it, but I'll definitely keep your offer in mind. Smiley
