So, here's the deal:
I'm back at home for the summer and my job doesn't start until June 7th. My boyfriend, who is pretty much the only friend I have out here, is going to be working a ton, so I'm going to be pretty much all alone until I start my job and have a chance to meet people to hang out with. However, that's really not too big of a problem...I mean, it sucks, but I'm at peace with it.
Anyway, I was telling my boyfriend how bored I was at home and how lonely I am now that I've left school for the summer, and the next thing I know, he's looking at his online bank account statement. When I asked him why he was looking at it, he said "I'm completely willing to go spend a hundred dollars on a bunch of yarn for you to make stuff with if it will give you something to do so you're not so bored all day."
He was serious, too.
So...while I don't think I'll be spending a hundred dollars on yarn, he's insistent about me taking the offer (and he's definitely not broke, so I don't feel horribly bad about it, just very, very grateful), so I guess I'll be taking a trip to my LYS and picking up some yarn. My only question is...what do I make?
I was thinking of making the color bar afghan from S&BHH since I love it, and maybe working off-and-on on a secret afghan for the boyfriend with an anime motif (the One Piece pirate skull because he loves One Piece), but other than that, I'm stuck for ideas. I already have a crocheted bag and I have plans for a hat...but what else? Gloves? Scarf? Sandals?
If anyone can give me some ideas, some pattern links, and/or some recommendations for yarn, that would be awesome and I'd be in your debt.
By the way, I hope I don't come across as a golddigger or anything. I didn't ask for him to spend money to fix my problems, and I usually buy my own craft supplies anyway. I don't have a job right now, but I will have one starting very soon, and I plan on giving him something back with everything he buys me anyway. I really do love him for everything he is (it's our two year anni today, ironically) and not for all the money he has.
