I've never tried this stitch either. It would be pretty as a mobius (or is it spelled moebius?) shawl.

Think I might try this one as a christmas gift for a friend...does anyone think one of those super saver red heart 1lb of yarn would do the trick?

I used the red heart flecked yarn that has 5 oz
I bought 2 and only used a small amount of the second.  I guess it depends on how wide and long you want to make it and how big your 'loops' are, but I would think that a pound is going to work pretty well.

ahh, I kept forgetting to come back!  but here's the pic:

it's pretty darn long- I wear it like that around my neck, folded over once, and it still goes down to my waist.  I like long scarves Smiley  The only thing I'd change next time is to use a thinner yarn...it gets rather bulky as the stitch builds up.  But I was too in love with the yarn and the colour to give it up and use another yarn Tongue
