Imagine- I didn't use a pattern.. just some general shapes from other dresses I own. A dressform is a girl's best friend. Wink

I'm trying to make the green dress from Atonement for my prom (in like 9 months) but I have next to no sewing experience and no experience with making clothes. this pattern is sorta similar and I feel like it would make a good and simple base with which to begin modifications. I don't need an exact replica, though I am fond of the false knot on Keira's, the lowness of the back, and the slit.

Hey guys. I got desperate and made this in the end:

My bf made me an amazzzing corsage with ivy and flowers from his garden. I wish I'd gotten a proper photo of it.

Seamed stockings!

Grosssss photo but that's the top. The sleeve things were SO HARD for someone with sewing skills as poor as mine. But I think it looked alright in the end. It took about 5 hours.

It looks great! Especially with those tights!

My grandparents (who I haven't seen in quite some time!) are coming up around Christmas. They haven't gotten to see my prom dress the past three years so I'm trying to get it done SUPER early so they can finally see it!

Which means... I'm starting way early! Today, I designed and cut out most of my pattern pieces. Having some trouble with the arms!

Is anyone else starting early?

I started in August, but that's because I literally have next to no sewing skills. I can embroider and cross stitch. Not so helpful. Anyone know a good place for vintage reproduction shoes or jewelry?

I started my dress early. No pictures yet, but so far I have it all cut out, made a mock-up of the bodice, and got most of the skirt done. That was all done yesterday and today actually.

I want to get mine done as soon as possible because I suspect a few friends have been hinting around for some commissions...

P.S. If I go with a boy to prom, I definitely would make his outfit for him!

After years of searching for the perfect Anastasia (the 1998 animated movie) dress, I still haven't found one. And having wanted this dress as my senior prom dress for nearly 10 years now, I'm going to make it. I've found the pattern (Simplicity 4401) and I'm getting started on it soon. I'll post pictures as I go along!
