Hey everyone, I didn't make my prom dress but I'm looking for suggestions to jazz it up. It's a really atypical and simple 80s (? I'm bad with fashion periods) strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline (boning in the bodice) and a full skirt. It hits below my knees:

It looks a lot greener than it truly is. And it's on a mannequin.. I'm not that pasty.  Tongue

It's actually a turquoise colour:

Anybody have ideas as to what I can do with it?

Also, any idea what type of shoes to go with it? I'd appreciate it.

that is a great dress....i know you didn't make it but i would like to complement you on your sense of style. my prom dress (that i bought too) is like that but it is a little shorter and it has tulle peaking out from under it and it is speghetti straped. do you have any idea what shoes you are wearing with it?

Think Fred Jones (scooby doo) but classier.
I made my boyfriend an ascot in about 30 seconds on Halloween cause we went as Fred and Daphne.

well, girls, i committed the most awful crime of all & sold out!  i bought a prom dress.

Run away, alisasaur. Run away and never come back. Angry

Just playin', darling. Be sure to post a pic of you and your (I'm sure) fabulous matching bag! What is the purpose of stuff like prom if you get too stressed out about it? Just have fun!  Kiss

hahaha that comment totally made my day!  I'm actually getting ready to make the bag right now (prom is on Saturday!!!)  I'm such a procrastinator!!

My dress is nearly finished!  Roll Eyes I need to finish putting the zipper in and hem it, however I need to buy shoes first so that it's hemmed to the right length.
My dress is long, classy and black; Dan has decided that he's not renting a tux, he's just going to wear a suit. However, his beautiful suit is navy. He's planning on wearing red with it. Is there something I can do so that it dosn't look like we failed Matching 101?

alisasaur - don't worry!  I half sold out, by getting someone else to make my dress.  I got to design it still, and I'm justifying the choice to myself by reminding myself that I'm making my purse and jewellery.  So we're in the same boat  Cheesy  And really, who cares, as long as it's the dress of your dreams??? Or just the dress you could find a week before.  Whatever.  Grin

GreatBallOfFire - perhaps you could make a red shrug or wrap  and perhaps some red jewellery (depending on budget/personal taste) to match ur boyfriend, then at least there would be some link between ur two outfits
