I decided about a month ago to make my formal (our version of prom).
The formal is tonight, and I finished the dress yesterday - yay!!
I'm surprised how well it turned out, I'd never really sewn much before.
I made simplicity 4272, in green, and added straps.
Hopefully I'll post a photo after tonight Smiley

Oh, please do!  I can't wait to see! Smiley

I've got a ton of drawings and stuff because I'm making my dress for my IB art class as well. I'm doing a full skirt covered in over a hundred feet of rows and rows of different shades of beige, off white and white lace. The mid section is a corset of yellow satin silk very tightly pleated horizontally with a V shaped corset in the back and a large yellow bow. The top will be strapless with rows of lace. I'm also planning on making a dress similar to Keira Knightley's in Atonement. I make a lot of fancy dresses, so I might make a few and then choose one!

I love keira's dress in Atonement! Buut, as I'm not as tall as her, I don't think it'd look as wonderful on me. The deep green goes really well with her hair too...

this might be a litte to late but my mom found fabric very similar to that in walmart about a few years ago when she made me a princess gown, gold on top and clear tulle  like material with gold dots on it, think of it as the girl dress version of the one you like.

alright! so i have my design for my prom dress and it's all in my head. i have it drawn out here
the blue is the dress itself, the brown indicates pieces that wrap around the waist and underbust, the orange indicate seams, and the green dots are where it will be fastened (strategically placed to avoid zippers)

and i plan to do a mock up using a sheet or some cheap material. im excited.
it's inspired by (i marked this on the parts i want to change due to me being significantly boobier than natalie portman)

also, not dress related but i have to tellsomeone (im keeping it a secret till the day of prom) im getting my hair cut liiiike

i really like that dress. I'll start posting ideas soon, proms in like...a few weeks, geeze.

and on the haircut note, there's a locks of love drive coming to my school, and i'm volunteering to be the movements mascot girl. They're going to shave my head. Haha, so my hair will be extremely short at prom.

Just finished my prom dress!
Absolutely love all the details. Wonderful! Prom is next month here (not for me) but I love seeing all the limos around town! Plus last year there was a semi truck instead of limo for one group! Such great ideas.
