Wow.  I may have to have my craftster status taken away...
...because i just BOUGHT my prom dress.

But no, not just any prom dress.  A to-die-for, never need to try on another dress ever again, fairy-tale princess, BEAUTIFUL, incredible dress.  Oh wow.

And i didnt think i could find a dress pretty enough to make me forget about the dress i wanted to make...but this does it.

If you like, i can post pictures when i get a chance Smiley

Well, I don't have prom, but my friend's having a masquerade ball so I'm making a dress for that. It's McCall's 5001, and it's going quite well - it's a fairly straightforward pattern. I'm doing A (shorter length, no tulle) with E (the shrug). The MC is a gorgey steel taffeta, and the shrug is a light silver embroidered, um, something.
I shall post pics when I'm done - I still have the shrug to sew up, which would be quick if I hadn't lost the tiny little band pattern piece - it's just a little square, I think I can remember what size it was and the handfinishing on the dress to do (slipstitching the lining all the way up the zipper AND all that hemming - augh!)

Wow, AllieKat3120, your dress is gorgeous.  What brand is it?  You are the only one who stands out in that picture...the only unique dress!  Stunning.

OK, here's the link to marshall fields...but their picture is NOTHING like the dress.

http://www.fields.com/gifts/OnlineShopping/FL?DSP=4&PCR=7:101086:102507:104368:104375:104379&IID=1017996&c=1

And here's a (not terribly good) picture i took of the beading on the top (click to see it bigger)...

I'll take better pictures of it on me when i get the chance...it's practically impossible to get on and off (which is a feature my parents like, lol!)

Again, Note to anyone who didnt read my previous post...I DID NOT make this dress! ...but i love it like it was my own! Smiley

I've been working on my dress for a month now, and all I'm still working on the lining. This is mostly because I can't cut the fabric out at home, which stinks (I'm doing the dress at school for a grade in sewing class). I'm using Simplicity number 4269 view D.  It's weird because it has the boning in the lining!  And to make it worse, I messed up cutting out pieces in the lining, so I had to go buy more (not that it was expensive, but I had to stop working on it) I forgot my dress at school today so I can't work on it right now, and in sewing class, I don't get much time to work.  It's hard work, but to save $300 and to get a grade for it, it's perfect.
