thanks! actually there isn't a petticoat layer, i wanted to make one, but of course i had been putting it off for far too long plus ap tests ruin my life! >< there's just a lop layer of about 6 feet of fabric ruffled up and another layer of about 5 feet of fabric ruffled up underneath it.  when i walked down the stairs i puffed up a lot! it was fun  Cheesy
and yes, thank goodness sharkie (limo driver) was still around to drive me back home.  wonderful prom story woo!

*deep breath*

first ever post, figured it was time to stop "lurking" and show my face around here!

I'm from the UK so I don't have prom, but we do have a Christmas Social every year, and seeing as this is my last year I'm going to make my dress!

scared doesn't begin to describe it! Cheesy

I'm planing something like this - http://www.heritageofscotland.com/Tartan-Evening-Dresses/Bella-Short-Tartan--Plaid--Dress/pid,5913,cid,487926,product.php

I'm going to change it by making it buckle up the front and no lacing anywhere - lacing scares me!

comments? suggestions?

maivynator: I had zipper problems too! Instead of eating dinner with friends, I went home and fixed my zipper (I ended up putting a bow on it haha. It worked.)! Good job!

Here are some pics! Prom was Saturday.. I finished my dress when my date was in the room with me. haha

good one of the back

this one from the side..

the bodice..

here's a good one of the corset

The ruffles at the bottom I did the day of prom which is why they aren't as good looking as they could have been. And I didn't topstitch the top of the bodice which pissed me off cause you can see the lining. I also wish I could have had more tulle so the petti would have held up better. And the damn grommets kept popping out of place. No one noticed though.. It was well received. I was happy. Maybe I'll bleach it and add some lace when I want to get married. haha

That is very pretty! I love the side shot. At least no one noticed about the malfunctions. Smiley We are our own worst critics, aren't we?
