I recently turned 50. To celebrate I took 15 of my favorite people to my favorite restaurant. It was a marvelous, surprise-filled evening. I knew I wanted to wear something memorable and unique. The ideas began to form and morph months before the actual event.
I was turning 50ÖI was born in the 50ísÖI had just scored, on eBay, a lot of real vintage ties from the 50ís for seven dollars and (you guessed it) 50 cents. Hence, this dress was born.





I created the bodice and sleeves. The skirt and back are from Butterick 6582.

Wow! I bet you got at least 50 compliments.  I thought maybe I'd seen all the tie projects on Craftster, but your innovation makes another stylish one for the list.  Well done on the idea and the end product.
