Someone asked me to make them a doll of Colin Meloy, from the band The Decemberists. Specifically, from the video '16 Military Wives' (see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Mbhd4LGR-g)

 So! I gave it a shot.

 Here's what he actually looks like:


 And what I came up with:
 

 
 I think I've fixed that wonky eye already. The hair cracks me up, though. The emo slice was easy to render in yarn. Cheesy

 
The glasses are huge! haha. I used a wire frame, covered that in paper mache and then spray-painted them black. It occurs to me now I can get the same effect by wrapping them in hockey tape.






I actually TIED the little tie. Being a girl who doesn't wear them, I so rarely get to display my tie-tying abilities.

 At the time I wasn't familiar either, so I'm glad the doll looks like he's supposed to! I was worried his manly, manly jawline wouldn't come out right  Grin
