Wanna Make Something of It?

Here's an Asian-inspired tray I made from free scrap wood (Thank you, Home Depot!). The wood was warped, which really gave the look I was going for.   This is really an easy project!
I sanded the wood, and "abused it" by poking nail holes and beating a screwdriver against it. Then I stained it a dark chocolate brown. I attached the "feet" with wood glue.
Hope you likey...

See the nice curve in the wood?

AWESOME!!!!  i love the warped board idea!  and you're right--they usually trash these pieces!  good thinking.

i saw somewhere (prolly martha??) where they made a really long one to go across the middle of a table.  you put a runner under it & on top of it you add your food necessities--salt, pepper, sugar, whatever.  it was cool. (hope that made sense!)

what are you gonna do w/ yours??

and off topic, i like that floor!

That is a beautiful tray. I saw one like it (can't remember where) and they wanted $30 for it *gag*

Anyway, great use of scrap wood! And I love your floor, too!

gorgeous! i hope you don't plan on eating directly off of it. i remember in a class i had in college about a special sealer for wood so you could eat from it. if i can remember what is is, i'll post it. i think it was something oil, or butcher something. haha.

either way, SO NICE!

No plans to eat off of it...just decorative.

I wanted to also say that this is one of those projects that is really hard to mess up and if you do, you will have no guilt throwing it out!
