i know this is kind of a late discovery, but i just this week found the existence of Kurhn dolls through some photos posted on flickr...

they are like a chinese version of barbie (in fact using the same size and sometimes same type body), but i find them much more personable(?) than barbie or for that matter a lot of other dolls i have seen.  also some models have more joints and are more posable.

for your curiosity, they can be got on eBay from only one officially approved store (also where i got the below photos), but she (the seller) seems real nice.

EDIT: i accidentally posted above a confusing link, but i fixed it now.  most of the dolls are in this page.
the more special collection dolls are at this page.

so i just wondered if anyone else here is into Kurhn dolls and making clothes for them and photos with them...

i have these ones coming to me in the mail soon:

so i am pretty excited... i have hit the yardsales and dollar stores for some barbie clothes but i have plans to modify some of it and use others for patterns...  this should be fun!!

speaking of yard sales, i went to an uruguayan family's yard sale today and got a whole bag of barbie stuff for $4!! half of it goes to the goodwill after sorting, and it was still a good deal.
plus i got to practice hearing a different dialect of spanish than what we usually use at home...
Grin language nerd fun!

I didn't know about these dolls either, LOVE them!!  The 2 you chose are adorable and their clothes that they come with are great.  I will definitely look into getting one.  Thanks for the info!!

yeah some people don't like the kurhn original clothes, but i think they have potential...
i'm not big on beige, for example, but i could see doing some nice designs on them with like fabric markers or something.
(the kind that are paints not dyes, i think, because now that i know how prone the plastic dolls are to staining, i would avoid that...)

i hope to see your photos soon Grin

They're very cute!  Are they all articulated?

ghilie, afaik it depends on the model.  one of these you see here has more joints than the other.
EDIT: turned out that was not true. but some other models have less joints.

i chose them on their "personality", and am planning to take one of my spare "extra-jointed barbie bodies" (there needs to be a shorter name for that... gymnast barbie bodies?) to give to the one who has a not-so jointed body.

PS: 1070, 1080, 1081 seem to be the more jointed ones, because the description says "10 movable joints".  i am not sure which 10 areas are jointed:

Possibilities are:
neck (1)
shoulders (2)
elbows (2)
wrists (2)
waist (1)
knees (2)
ankles (2)

that comes out to 12? (but check my math!).  i'm not sure which they leave out -- probably the ankles, but as it's hard to see from the photos, i am just guessing for now.

my spare barbie bodies have 10 or 12 joints (one has ankles jointed, and one doesn't)

I definitely like the way these dolls look as opposed to Barbie. Her face is much nicer and for some reason her body seems to look nicer too. I think more realistically shaped. *nods*
I want one but I only have enough in my papal to cover shipping and I'm trying to let my paypal accumulate so I can get the paypal debit card....
Grrr so many things to buy!
Perhaps I'll keep the e-bay store in my favs and see if I can get one for our anniversary. Wink

I like the waist, arms and legs to be honest. She's shaped more like me in that area than barbie is!  Barbie may have the booty but Kurhn is way more of a cutie!
