My mom's been saying for ages that she wants some kind of potted grass for her coffee table, so I decided to make it for her for Mother's day.  Well, it's not actually grass.  I used irish moss instead.

The materials - One small sake tray, three sake cups, two pots of irish moss, some small rocks, and a knife.

Five minutes later. . .

Close up shot!

I'm really happy with how this turned out.
I hope my Mom likes it as much as I do! Smiley

I would love to receive that! Very pretty! Were the small rocks just for drainage? Now if only my cat wouldn't insist on eating every green thing that comes in here....   Smiley

This is very pretty. Does your Mom have enough lighting in her living room for the plants? I wanted a kitchen herb garden and had to install an under counter light for my herbs. You can buy cheap ones and replace the bulb with an aquarium/plant bulb.

Yes, my Mom's living room has lots of sun.  But that's a really good idea.  I may have to try that in my kitchen! Smiley

Yep, the rocks just went on the bottom for drainage.  Hopefully it'll work.

I'm sure that herbs would work too, but if they're really tiny cups, you'd probably want to pick something that doesn't need a lot of space for its roots.

I really like that. You've given me a great idea for our coffee table. Maybe the new plants will help me get over our Lhasa Poo's violent attacks on the larger older plants.  Smiley
