I'm making this tote bag and it has some felted circles attached to it.  The pattern has very poor directions on how to crochet them.  I am no crocheter but really tried to figure it out.  They are all wobbly and funny looking.  I'm not sure if they'll look right after felting either.

My question(s) is this:   Do you know of an easy way to make flat circles?   Is crocheting them easier than knitting them?

Here tells how to knit a circle
or here are some round felted coasters, basically same as formula used above.  http://www.knittingatknoon.com/coasterspatt.html

THank you to both of you.  I also looked it up and am practicing a crochet method.  They still aren't laying flat but maybe that's OK since I'm felting them.  I think crocheting them will be much quicker than knitting them.  I am very surprised at myself because I am a true knitter at heart!
