I've seen lots and lots of people carve their own stamps out of erasers, which is freakin' awesome. I've always wanted to do it, but never remember to buy erasers to do it with. But I was wondering, since I have mounds and mounds of Sculpey eraser clay, if I could use that. Has anyone ever tried it? The boredom of work is tempting me to try that right now... hopefully the toaster oven here won't burn my stuff again.

I haven't tried it, but it seems to me that you'd need to make sure they're big enough to carve without hurting yourself. Also, I'm not sure how likely they are to fall apart.
Seems worth a try other than that!

That sounds interesting. If you try it, please let us know. It makes me wonder if you could use Crayola's foam-clay stuff, which seems to have a consistency suitable for stamping:

I guess the advantages to working with clays would be that you could create a stamp of a relief image. Not another stamp, necessarily, but with some objects you could probably get it to work with some creativity.
