I did some 'tweaking' of the pattern ( I made him shorts earlier http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=245054.0 and they weren't the best) and positioned the pockets lower so they wouldn't be cut off completely. Which meant lowering them almost an inch lower than the pattern showed where the pockets could go and it turned out PERFECT!
I also decided to not do the velcro on the cargo pocket and made it much smaller than the pattern had it. It's still functional, but not what the directions/pattern said to do. Yes, I know. I am a rebel!
I also lined the pockets. It made my AR/OCD go off the charts by having raw edges inside the pockets! LOL

So what do you think?

As modeled by my ironing board..... (no action shots as of yet)

Thanks! Joann's in the kid's section.

Thanks! It LOOKS just like the picture on the pattern, but by NOT following the directions I did it right. Does that make sense? I am more a visual person and the pics in the directions were awful!

I love these ! The fabric is awesome!  Cheesy

They turned out so much nicer than the first ones.

I too recently had stupid directions in a pattern. Making a skirt for my youngest daughter, the only directions for the elastic casing was to "tack at the side seams" ....wait what? No....thats not right lol.  Needless to say i did make a casing to finish it proper.

Thanks everyone! Little guy will be wearing the bug ones today. I want to make him shirts to go with them, but I'll have to freehand a pattern since I don't own one yet.
