Making these shorts was almost the end of me! The directions weren't the best and the pattern was only so-so. My son normally wears a size 2 (in store bought clothes), but in the pattern he was a size 1/2 (that's a half, not a 1 or 2). Not a problem, right?

I had issues all around with these. Next pair I am going to make them differently. s@#$ the directions! 1/2 of them were awful.

So despite spending three hours trying to figure out and put together a pair of cargo shorts I DID IT! They are super cute (though a bit long) and the little guy likes them!

On with the pictures!

Really cool shorts!  I am trying to make some for my son and he is 20 mon, but I am not sure what size to make them in.  Normally he wears 18 mons, but he is moving up to 24.  I saw a few patterns that say 1/2 size as well and I wondered what that meant!  Do you have any advice for drafting them yourself?

They look great!  My boys love dinosaurs too.  In fact, I bought green fabric like that and was going to make cargo shorts with them, but looked at my pattern and said nah.  So now I'm using the fabric for a quilt.  (Was your pattern a Simplicity?)

Yes, it was a Simplicity pattern, which I understood a little better after making a 2nd pair. (Will post them in a few w/o action shots- kid is asleep)

Go by the measurements of your child and not the sizes. Wink
