I bought these overalls for 50cents and transformed them into a purse, only adding thread.  All purse parts were salvaged from the overalls!

Teaser pic:

my 4 year old holding it, for scale!

The 2 straps attach with their buckles in the center (see the pic with my daughter's face), and still have their slides, so it is fully adjustable, strap can be 17"; up to 29"; long.  All pockets were relocated to the body of the purse and re-stitched on.  The body of the purse is all one big piece, one of the legs cut to square.

Mosaic of the whole process, starting with the BEFORE overalls, to the AFTER leftover bits:

A few more big AFTER pics:

I wish I could say I took photos throughout or could give instructions, but basically I just cut stuff off and sewed it 'til it made sense. Smiley

***ROCKS!****

I'm in love with this, I so want one.

Between the denim and the pockets and the strappy strap (omg the strap) I'm not sure it could have turned out better.  Too cute!

Oh, thanks everyone!  I have to admit, I was tickled to bits when I finished it.  I like the hidden pocket on the side thing (where my cell phone peeks out in the bottom left shot) and all the pockets fit my small stuff so I can just stuff the inside with big stuff.

All the funky pockets were my fave!  I still have one left (identical to the one on the pocket side, top left) so I might make a mini version for my daughter (she is 4) so we can be twinsies.

It's bigger than my normal purse, so I can stuff a water bottle or stuff for the kiddos in it and not have to carry the purse AND a diaper bag.

Thanks for all the great comments!

I've loved jeans purses since the 70's! This one is particularly adorable! Nice ideas! So much for 50 cents!
