Let's face it, it seems like kids grow about a mile a minute and clothes that do still fit them, they end up getting a chocolate milk stain on them or they just plain out grow them.

With Spring here and Summer right around the corner (and hubby not back to his full hours of work) I decided that I would raid my kids closets and pull out anything that a. didn't fit them anymore and b. had some sort of stain on it.

So, with that in mind and being that both my girls looooove to wear dresses, I pulled out a few shirts, hacked them up, and made them into dresses.

First dress
Before (this onesie still fit my youngest in the chest and arm area but she outgrew the snap area):

After:

Another after (I call this one her "jumping for joy" picture):

Second dress (also for my youngest)
Before (a nice white shirt that she had outgrown the sleeves and also has a chocolate milk stain on it)

After:

Third dress (for my oldest daughter, still going to do a few more for her)
Before (and yes, it is a Valentines shirt and fabric but that's what she picked out that she wanted)

After

Oh, and total cost of project, FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Grin  The shirts were already in their closets and the fabric is all what I've had on hand that I've been trying to think of something to do with.  woohoo!

Thank you all!

The trim around the edge of the sleeve on #2 is (crappy) handmade bias tape.  I thought I had purchased the 1" size but it turned out that it was the 1/2" size (boo!).  So it came out really small.  Although, it was fun making my own bias tape and I'll have to buy a bigger size next time.

Wait, did you just say it was... FUN making your own bias tape?   Grin

I love them all, and this is a really creative idea.  My daughter has outgrown a lot of her old onesies in the height, but still swims in them otherwise.  This is a fantastic solution!

Thank you for the inspiration, and the dresses are all really lovely!
