The theme to my prom was James bond 007 (because it was last year...how creative Tongue), but I made some kickin threads anyway. I made the Zoot Suit that my awesome boyfriend is wearing for a sewing competition and I made my dress in about two days. I was planning on wearing another corseted dress that I had made but decided it was not "bond" enough so I whipped this out in a couple days. The strapping and crystals are all hand sewn in and the dress had a nice puddle in the back. I am new to this forum and thought I would post these pictures because I was thinking about doing a tutorial for this dress. Tell me what you think!

Awseome lining on the zoot suit coat (yay for the clearance rack!)

The dress is gorgeous; Id love a tute for the strapping.  The awesomeness of the zoot suit knows no limits. I had intended to make a zoot suit for myself for prom this year but I ended up not going so there was no zuit to be had, maybe Ill make one anyway.

Wow, for prom? That's pretty hot. You're dress is awesome, and very Bond. There is no way what so ever my parents would have ever let me leave the house in something like that. Then again, like someone else said, "the girls" would not have stayed in with a shape like mine. I love the DIY history of Zoot suits. How the poor guys couldn't afford to get fitted suits, so they just got oversized ones. Then wore them with confidence saying "What? No, I TOTALLY did this on purpose" Alot of fashion has come in that way.

Both of those are AMAZING!!!!! I love them SO much! The lining in the inside of the zoot suit is awesome and the cut on the top of the dress is sweet! I love the fabric choices and the length of the dress too. So awesome! I wish I would have thought to dress to the themes of my prom but ours were pretty lame.

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

thanks for all the lovely comments! Kiss In high school I was some one that few ever actually took notice of but no one really disliked me, so when I saw everyone at prom their jaws dropped. I had dread locks for a long time and I often wore torn bell bottom jeans and very plain clothes so even the few people that were less than cordial to me had lovely things to say. Most people had no idea that I could even sew let alone look pull off anything actually sexy.
The dress was a quick and awkward project with no lining and no pattern. I have since made a fantastic pattern that will eventually be for sale with the rest of my patterns, but the basic dress was incredibly easy. I will post a tutorial as soon as I get a chance! Thanky Cheesy
