so after seeing the lovely lanterns crafter for the dollar store challenge
artNcraft's original post with tutorial here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=238457.0
I was inspired and made my own

sorry my bed is unmade
theyre made using coloured popsicle sticks
and white tissue paper
except the yellow one
since it was my first lanterns I used some old paper we had around
that my brother lovingly coloured with a purple marker  Undecided

the truth is mine didnt come out as good as the originals but theyre nice, right?

the colored popsicle sticks make an interesting effect.

it makes me wonder about experimenting with the kind of tissue paper where the color runs when you wet or glue it.  or white tissue paper and "dyeing" it with the popsicle sticks...  all these "tie-dye" effects would be neat with light coming through them.

so would your brother's inkspotting, if it were a little more all-over instead of just spots.  of course now it's a lamp, it's probably too delicate for him to "decorate" it any better, but you could add different random spots and things, it might be interesting.

sorry for the tangent, but i like when other ppl's stuff makes me think new ideas...

thank you Smiley

my favourite one is the green one
and hes 4 so asking him to spot it some more would probably result in him just tearing a hole through it
and that is exactly what we're here for, isnt it? spreading ideas and inspiring

Awesome!  I also really like the white tissue paper with green craft sticks too, I like how the green comes through.  It makes me so happy to see people make these.  Great job!
