Here he is...I personally think he looks like a 'George'.

There are so many great tutorials online for making sock monkeys that I definitely had to make one. I gave this one to my friend's baby boy, but I can't wait to to make another one in brighter colors.

I hope you like him! Thanks for looking

George works - he's dignified enough to pull off George.  Cheesy

Oh wow, 'George' looks perfect! I really want to make one for my dad for fathers day (inside joke) but I was overwhelmed with all the different tutorials I seen online. Plus I have never sewn sock material (knit) before so I am a little leary. Which tutorial did you use? Any tips on making one?

Thanks ~~Mary

I actually used the very first tutorial that is on google...ehehm....t he small thing that I neglected was the copyright at the bottom that also says "Please do not reproduce without my permission".

The way I see it, there are only so many ways you can make a sock monkey and she did not "invent" it...but it is a fantastic step by step tutorial. I supposed if you do not sell them it would be okay.
here are a few other links to tutorials:

By the way thanks for all of your comments and I hope you find the links helpful! Cheesy

He's a cutey.

What kind of socks did you use?

I'm afraid I ruined my last two attempts at monkeys due to my cheap socks.  Embarrassed

I've used this tutorial for many years.  It doesn't exactly tell you when/where to attach things, but it does tell you where to cut them from.  I've modified it slightly when I want a shorter/longer tail, but this is where I learned my sock monkeying, and I've made probably upwards of 20 monkeys this way.

I use any socks with a high-enough ankle, though I have more trouble with cheaply made socks, usually those with a high acrylic or polyester fiber content.  Try men's socks for your first go -- they're usually better made and you'll have plenty of fabric for fudge room.

They were really cheap socks and they worked out just fine...the threads inside were quite the nuisance though Wink
