No flash

With flash

The acorn baby hat came about a few weeks ago, when I was procrastinating and decided to have a go at the Post Office Hat posted by myloveasdeep, here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=143420.0, which I'd been wanting to try forever.  I used an olive green yarn I had in my stash because I had most of a skein (bought it for one leaf for something else.)

I must have got off on my counting, because I obviously ended up with a cone instead of a flat circle.  But I kept going because I thought, hey, this is kind of cute... like an acorn!  In that spirit, when I felt I had enough for the acorn body, I switched to a rust-colored yarn I had around for the puffs, to make the "hat" of the acorn.

Anyway, I LOVE IT!!! and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out Cheesy

The picture above sans flash is a better representation of the colors, and then you can see the details a little bit in the second pic, with flash.

Be proud!  I love the way it came out.  I wouldn't mind one of these for myself.

That's going to look really cute when it's worn! Love how those ideas are born.

How did you make the puffs? I've been trying to make an acorn hat for a couple of weeks and am having trouble following my pattern. Did you crochet a puff in each stitch? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ME TOO ME TOO!!! I WANT ONE!!!   Cheesy  Do they come in adult size! Tongue jk...

This is so adorable. Especially since fall is coming up. I DO have to say that it totally reminds me of Acorn the dwarf (Warwick Davis) in The 10th Kingdom. He wears an acorn hat and this one bears a remarkable resemblance!

Great Job!

Hey, I haven't been keeping up with Craftster as well since I'm back in school, but thanks you guys!  Amandasmile, I totally just added The 10th Kingdom to my netflix queue to watch because you mentioned it - I had never heard of it before, but I can't wait to see it!

klb13412, for the first row of puff stitches, I did one in every other single crochet, and I followed the instructions for The Post Office Hat by myloveasdeep for the stitch directions: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=143420.0
