I made this woodblock earlier in the year when I was using hands as my focus area in IB art class.  I really like it, it's like the hand of god from the sistine chapel (I made an ironic women's restroom sign from it earlier in the semester).  I thought it would look really cool backlit, so I decided to use it for the lamp challenge.

Sorting through the woodblock ink I found this great bright green so I put two and two together and made a lamp depicting the hand of god, commanding humanity to recycle in bright, earth-friendly green.  The paper is reused from a different use in my class, too, so I guess that's even better than recycling.  It was really fun to go pick out a kit and a lightblub and look at all the lighting nuances the hardware store had to offer.  I had a great time!

this was my experiment print

and the leftover materials.  I didn't get any process pics Sad  I did a lot of the artistic work at school and electrical stuff in a flurry in my basement.

Thanks for looking!

What a great idea! I love the recycled elements and the soft amber glow through the paper. Isn't it just so much fun wandering through hardware stores?!

That looks great, I love the hand! Any shot of getting a picture of the "ironic women's restroom sign" ?!?  Wink Great ink color choice, too!

Haha. Nicely worded.  Cheesy         The lamp is neat. Way to recycle!
