I broke my favorite lamp recently, unfortunately one of a pair. Oh well.
I'm a nerd, and as such the best and most fitting idea I could come up with to revamp it was to use the metal bits from an old lamp, some magnetic tape from an old cassette and the innards of a keyboard.
I love this.

unlit:

from side

magnetic tape was wound around the two halves of an old lampshade wire; that having been destroyed to get at the wire lol! It was a cylindrical shade of plain cream strengthened cotton.
then bits of keyboard were sewn onto the wire using a large eyed pointy needle and some more magnetic tape.
then came the side parts, I thought "I got to access the bulb to get it in and out", so I did this funky bit of stuff one one side, and the opposite on the other side. the centre bits of plastic on the magnetic tape area are the spools from the same tape, the orange plastic threaded through them was the run in and run out of the tape (nothing wasted lol!).

think that's about all I can say really.

I didn't, it's an old windows keyboard with sort of shortcut keys on it. the wake up key was meant to be pressed when (if) one was stupid enough to stick a windows 98 compoopter onto hibernate mode. funnily enough it never worked Cheesy
